What Does Your Online Presence Say About Your Company?

Your clients and customers are looking for you online.  If your online presence isn’t in order you could be sending potential sales to your competitors!  But, with a website, Google My Business, Bing Places for Business, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest…where do you even begin?

Here are just a few places you could be losing potential customers online.

Where Are You?

The first thing you look at is, where are your customers finding you?  Pick a search engine and look up your business name.  You may be amazed how much, or how little, there is about your business on the web.

Outdated Information

Has your business changed location?  Phone numbers?  Website?  Business hours?  You may have done your part and updated this information on your website and social media channels, but where else can customers find this information?  It is common for bots to scrape the web for business information to create directory listings.  It’s not common for them to update the listings.

Broken Links

Broken links can happen for different reasons.  Maybe it’s a change to your website.  Maybe it’s a typo on someone else’s website.  Maybe it’s just an outdated link.  No matter the cause, if the link is broken, your customers will be greeted by an ugly 404 page instead of your web content.

Extra Social Media Accounts

Does your business have autogenerated or abandoned social media accounts?  Some platforms require you to sign up for the service before creating your business page.  Others may autogenerate a page using information scraped from the web or when a customer checks in with a variation of your official page name.  Or maybe someone tasked an intern with creating a social media presence, but when they left the account was forgotten.  Whatever the reason, it’s worth exploring to see if there are additional pages you can merge with your official account.
